Elvis Bobble Head

A uniquely American collectable is the Elvis bobble head. Not only of Elvis, but of any character is only made and sold in America. The bobble head, nodder or wobblers is referring to a special doll what has an oversized head attached to a body with a spring.

There have been so many different characters that have been naming them all would be futile. The most common are famous sports figures, and especially baseball heroes. Most Baseball stadiums have a day at their ball park. Once a year the most famous either current or past player is immortalized with a free giveaway.

This all started back in 1842 with a short story written by Nikolai Gogol. This is where the original description was produced. The first were made out of paper mache. This was consistent until the 1970’s when ceramic was the preferred material by the manufacturers.

Collectors went crazy for the Elvis along with the Beatles. This was a strange craze that America went thru the 1970’s but then it almost came to a standstill. During this very popular time the material was once again changed from ceramic to plastic.

Baseball really got into the swing in 1999, with the free give away of 35,000 Willie Mays bobble head dolls. From that point on the bobble head became a main stay in the American culture.

Today one of the best selling is an Elvis. This one is of Elvis from the 1968 comeback tour and can still be purchased for under $20.

There is no better (or more fun) gift for true Elvis fans than the Elvis Bobblehead. Head on over to http://www.historyofelvis.com and get yours today!
